Well the answer to that is in about 10 days to 2 weeks time (based on increased fitness LESS increased fatigue). So it follows that running the day before a 5k race will not help make you fitter for the following day. It can’t help. It might NOT HURT TOO MUCH but IT MIGHT HURT (if too quick). It’s not worth the risk.
Long term goal is to average 70-80km/week throughout the year. I do 25-30k/week at the moment, 10-15k during the week with 2-3 runs (1-2 easy, 1 speedwork), and 10-15k on Saturdays. 50-70 km a week. Between 60 and 70 km per week. 55-80k depending on where I am in training. I run 6 days a week and am on a minutes plan.
