Stay away from the multitronic FWD as they are very unreliable and break + the cars on Longlife servicing may have cams problems on cars pre 2003 and there are issues with the injector pump control unit- rebuilds are about 5-1000 quid. I would go for a quattro all day long, either 2.5 or 3.0 tdi.

It is easy to test, if you are unsure if it is faulty, but it is hard to reach. I will look up for part no, I have it written down.
